This interactive workshop introduces participants to the basics of Indian music, with a focus on Carnatic (South Indian classical) music. Through live demonstrations and audience participation, attendees will explore rhythm (tāla), melody (rāga), improvisation, and vocal expression.
The session also connects these ideas to familiar styles like Bollywood music, rock, jazz, and other modern genres, showing how musical concepts translate across cultures. Participants will engage through clapping exercises, call-and-response, and guided listening.
This workshop can be adapted for different audiences, from educational settings to performance-focused events.
