Hailing from the warm savannas of Colombia and the sandy beaches of Panama, Calle Sur brings to life the rich diversity of Latin American music, challenges cultural and ethnic preconceptions, and lifts spirits with the sheer energy and beauty of its performances. Multi-instrumentalists Ed East (Panamanian) and Karin Stein (Colombian) take audiences of all ages on a musical journey through many Latin American cultures, performing on a large variety of instruments. Calle Sur is based in Iowa but regularly tours nationwide, has composed the soundtrack for three internationally broadcast documentaries, and has appeared on a variety of TV and radio shows. Both performers are also veteran educators and are comfortable working with all age levels, from school age through professional adults, and with audiences of any size.
