Chinese food is an important part of Chinese culture and Chinese people take great pride in their food culture. The great variety of Chinese food is overwhelming. In this presentation, distinctive features of Chinese cuisine will be explained. Students will get an understanding of how food and cooking change in China with different geographic locations and how selection of different food materials vary with seasons. If in a kitchen setting, a cooking demonstration will be given. If possible, students can participate in learning to cook Chinese food.
