The Road Home
"Growing up with Mexican immigrant parents, I spent much of my childhood on the road. My dad, a lifelong driver, moved our family from state to state and took us on long trips back to Mexico. No matter where we went, family meals always brought us together. But one part of my family’s history remained a mystery to me: my grandmother Rose’s story. Years later, as I began building an ofrenda (holiday altar) for Día de los Muertos, I finally learned about her life and the experiences that shaped our family. Through her story, I discovered a deeper connection to my heritage and a new understanding of the legacy passed down through generations."
