Redefining Cabin Fever

PARTICIPATE TO ELEVATE US ALL

In this time of social distancing, many of us are searching for new ways to connect, grow, and learn from each other. We are seeing amazing things happen on social media and in our communities where people are lifting each other up, and we want to contribute to this incredible display of humanity’s best qualities.

Let's stop the spread together.

To that end, we reached out to our ambassadors and friends asking for craft, recipe and movie suggestions that can be enjoyed at home. They rose to the challenge and flooded our inbox with ideas. Here are a few that have recently been featured on our social media:

ARTS & CRAFTS

The Japanese art of origami might seem difficult to master at first, but we promise it’s not intimidating as it looks. In her comprehensive video, which was recently added to our Facebook page, Ambassador Mikki Takayama leads viewers through the 16 easy steps of making an origami crane.

FILMS

Tired of watching Friends reruns over and over? Give some foreign films a try! Drake University Professor Carol Spaulding Kruse recommends Mongolian Ping Pong, The Gods Must Be Crazy (both available on Amazon Prime), and Fanie Fourie’s Lobola (available on YouTube).

IN THE KITCHEN

Tired of recycling through the same recipes? Time to spice it up! Open Book Gurwinder Kapoor has offered some advice for when the curry hits the fan with some of his favorite dishes. Even better - the ingredients are quarantine friendly. If you decide to give these recipes a try, we'd love your feedback. Share your photos and comments on our Facebook page or by email.
