Alaskan Holidays

Presented by

or

As a resident of Alaska, CultureALL Ambassador Kate Winslow has experienced many Alaskan holidays, and she shares her perspective on these traditions through stories and beautiful photographs. Some holiday celebrations that are unique to the region include: winter and summer solstice, Alaska Day, and Elizabeth Peratovich Day. The Tlingit – a Native American tribe – have their own holiday customs, including the “celebration of renewal.” The herring and salmon spawn seasons also are a time of celebration.
