Sue Hudson is a proud Thai American, cultural ambassador, and respected community leader based in Ankeny, Iowa. Born and raised in Thailand, Sue moved to the United States nearly two decades ago and has since made Iowa her permanent home. Her journey from Thailand to the American Midwest is marked by resilience, opportunity, and an unwavering commitment to serving both of her beloved cultures.

Sue is the current President of the Thai Association of Iowa, a role that allows her to actively promote cultural understanding, support Thai residents across the state, and organize traditional Thai events such as Songkran (Thai New Year) and Loy Krathong. She is also deeply involved with the Iowa Asian Alliance and plays an integral role in multicultural events including CelebrAsian and other community outreach efforts.

As a bridge between cultures, Sue has worked closely with community leaders, educators, and organizations across Iowa to share the beauty and depth of Thai heritage. She recently organized a historic visit by H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States — the first official Thai diplomatic visit to Iowa — where she facilitated meetings with the Mayor of Ankeny and the Ankeny Chamber of Commerce. This milestone helped open important conversations about cultural diplomacy and potential agricultural trade partnerships between Thailand and Iowa.

With a warm personality and a passion for storytelling, Sue regularly leads educational programs and cultural workshops throughout the state. Her mission is simple but powerful: to share the richness of Thai culture, foster inclusivity, and strengthen global connections — one smile at a time.
