Paulina L. Montero was born in Chile. She studied early childhood education at Catholic Pontifical University in Santiago and also earned a post-graduate degree in educational psychology at Andres Bello University. With her husband Juan Pablo and their three sons, Jose, Rai, and Tomy, she lived in a small town called Buin, 30 miles south of Santiago. In January of 2010, Paulina and her family moved to Iowa. Juan Pablo was transferred from Pioneer Seeds in Chile to Marion. They lived in Cedar Rapids for two years. In 2012, they moved to Ankeny. In August of 2013, her daughter Maria was born, completing their family. Paulina worked almost four years at The Treehouse Learning and Growing Center in Ankeny and now works as a Spanish interpreter for Des Moines Public Schools during school conference time. She also enjoys having time with her busy family, walking Tyler (their 12 year old dachshund), knitting, and crocheting. Her love for teaching young children and helping Spanish-speaking families with their English has motivated her to become an Ambassador for CultureALL. She is looking forward to sharing and connecting with people of different cultures.
