Željka Krvavica



Željka Krvavica was born and raised in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her varied and distinguished career includes teaching English language and literature in Sarajevo, working with the 1984 Winter Olympic Games, and serving as an interpreter for the Yugoslavian Department for Foreign Affairs. Željka fled the war in Bosnia with her two young sons and spent a year in a refugee camp in Croatia before reuniting with her husband to immigrate to Iowa in 1993. She now works for the Bureau of Refugee Services helping refugees from many countries make new homes in Iowa. Željka shares many fascinating stories of her life and her culture as one of CultureALL’s Cultural Ambassadors.
