Nancy Mwirotsi is an immigrant from Kenya. She has dedicated herself personally and professionally to helping refugee families have a positive and successful relocation experience in Iowa. Ms. Mwirorsi believes that to move forward, we have to have more than a “one size fits all” approach and that each child has a story, a dream, and can succeed to the highest level if given a chance. Most recently, Ms. Mwirotsi founded a program called P.I. 515 (Pursuit of Innovation 515), where she works directly with our youth and provides a free Saturday 9am-12pm after school class that educates refugee 7-12th grade students in Des Moines on basic computer coding and preparing them for higher education and good careers. She believes that because technology is diverse, it is one of the best ways to get kids into better economic status and will allow them to be innovative and further their educations past high school.
