Presented by

Yoko Tanaka

or

Yoko Tanaka, Executive Director of Japan America Society of Iowa, creates a mindful experience of omotenashi (hospitality) as she teaches participants about the Japanese Tea Ceremony. When entering the ritual of a tea ceremony, participants speak Japanese, cleanse their hands, experience a light meal, and practice proper Japanese etiquette, including the power of silence. Participants discover the essence of Japanese belief: ichigo ichie — treasure every encounter, for it will never recur.
