Japan

Yoko Tanaka, Executive Director of Japan American Society of Iowa (JASI), has been sharing her culture with participants of all ages since 2005. A Japanese interpreter, musician, performer, and artist, Yoko practices “ichigo ichie,” or cherish every moment since it will never recur. She recognizes that each instant is important and should not be wasted. She also values the care for others. In her free time, Yoko loves playing musical instruments. She currently plays the piano, practices the electric violin, and sings. Her passion is dancing Argentine Tango. She spends some time with her pet cat as he requests her affection.
